Lourie Elected to IBP's Board of Directors

Lourie Elected Secretary/Treasurer of the IBP 

April 2006 -- Silver Spring, MD:  David E. Lourie, P.E., founder of Metairie-based Lourie Consultants, has been elected Secretary/Treasurer directors of the Institute of Brownfield Professionals (IBP), an independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization designed to provide essential services to environmental professionals with expertise in brownfields revitalization, and to assist others with concerns in that area.

Others elected to the IBP board of directors are:

President W. Jerrold Samford, P.G. (Troutman Sanders, LLC),
President-Elect Donald W. Richardson, C.P.G. (BEM Systems, Inc.),
Director James K. Johnston, P.E. (PMK Group, Inc.)
Director Kenneth H. Kastman, P.E. (URS, Inc.)
Director Colleen Kokas (Office of Brownfield Reuse, NJ Dept. of Environmental Protection)
Director James W. Martin, P.E. (AMEC Earth & Environmental, Inc.) and
Director Joni Powell (Kleinfelder, Inc.).

Registered as a professional engineer in Louisiana, Mr. Lourie specializes in geotechnical and environmental engineering. He has broad experience with various types of civil engineering and environmental projects in the industrial, governmental, and commercial development sectors. Mr. Lourie is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Council of Engineering Companies, and the National Society of Professional Engineers, and he has served as president of these organizations at the local level. Recently, he was a member of negotiation committee organized by the US EPA to develop the proposed "All Appropriate Inquiry" (AAI) rule for Brownfield developments and other real estate transactions. He is also an IBP Registered Brownfield Professional (RBP). He has served several multi-year terms as chairman of the Jefferson Parish Technical Evaluation Committee. Mr. Lourie is actively involved with the New Orleans-area School-to-Career program and has been an adjunct professor at Tulane University and McNeese State University, and a lecturer at Louisiana State University and the University of New Orleans. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degrees in civil engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He founded Lourie Consultants in 1992 after serving as president of an international consulting engineering firm’s Louisiana practice.

promote members’ availability to serve those who need the services of environmental professionals
